Ecommerce development for complex builds and replatforming
The storefront is the easy part. The hard part is everything behind it: inventory syncing with your warehouse, orders flowing into NetSuite, sales tax calculated correctly in every state you have nexus, and a replatform that can’t afford to break any of it.
We’re an ecommerce development agency that builds, integrates and replatforms stores for US brands on Shopify, Magento / Adobe Commerce and headless stacks. We document our engineering, communicate in your time zone, and back it with support SLAs.
Engineering that fits your business
Before writing code, we map how data and orders move through your business: products, pricing, inventory, orders, customers, returns and finance. Then we design features and integrations around that reality. We plan with our store design and UX team from the start, so what’s designed can be built and what’s built is usable.

Out of the store
Signs you've outgrown your current setup
- Your team copies orders, inventory or prices between systems every day
- The store oversells because inventory syncs lag behind the warehouse
- Sales tax is calculated with workarounds, or not at all in some states
- Each new feature means another app, and the store gets slower
- Platform or PHP versions are out of date and upgrades keep slipping
- A replatform is coming and no one on the team has run one
How we run a Shopify project
Step 1 of 6
Discovery and spec
Requirements, data flows and acceptance criteria documented and signed off
Step 2 of 6
Architecture
Native features vs apps vs custom code, with the trade-offs spelled out. Custom code is reserved for what configuration can’t handle.
Step 3 of 6
Sprints
Work shipped to staging in short cycles, with demos
Step 4 of 6
Testing
Automated and manual QA, plus real-world scenarios such as partial shipments, refunds, backorders, failed payments and tax edge cases
Step 5 of 6
Release
Scheduled deployments outside peak hours, with a rollback plan
Step 6 of 6
Documentation
Every integration and custom feature documented, so you’re never dependent on one developer
What we manage
Merchant Center feed checklist
- Titles front-load brand, product type and key attributes (size, color, material, model)
- Correct Google product category and your own product_type hierarchy
- Valid GTINs, brand and MPN where applicable
- Complete apparel attributes (gender, age group, size, color) where relevant
- Clean, policy-compliant images with no promotional overlays
- Custom labels for margin tier, price tier, seasonality and bestseller status
- Accurate shipping, tax and return settings, now surfaced prominently in Shopping results
- Sale price and promotion annotations for key events like BFCM
Integrations: ERP, tax, shipping and PIM
NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP Business One, Acumatica, QuickBooks
Sales tax
Avalara, TaxJar or native platform tax, configured for your nexus footprint
Shipping and fulfillment
ShipStation, 3PL systems, UPS, FedEx and USPS rates and labels
PIM
Akeneo, Salsify and similar
Marketplaces
Akeneo, Salsify and similar
Payments, fraud, reviews, subscriptions and marketing platforms
Typical integration patterns we build for US brands:
Orders to ERP: web and marketplace orders flowing into NetSuite, Dynamics or Acumatica with customer, tax and fulfillment data mapped correctly
Inventory from the warehouse: near-real-time stock from your ERP, WMS or 3PL across multiple locations
Tax: Avalara or TaxJar calculating sales tax by jurisdiction, with exemption certificates for wholesale buyers
Fulfillment back to the store: tracking numbers flowing from ShipStation or your 3PL to the customer automatically
Finance: orders, refunds and payouts reconciled with your accounting system
For wholesale and distributor requirements (customer-specific pricing, net terms, quotes), see B2B ecommerce.
Headless front ends
When you need a highly custom experience, multiple storefronts or performance a theme can’t reach, a headless architecture may be the answer. Our headless ecommerce agency team will tell you honestly whether it’s worth the added cost and complexity.
Apps or custom code?
The app ecosystems on Shopify and Magento are a huge advantage, until a store runs dozens of apps that overlap, conflict, add scripts to every page and charge monthly fees forever. Our rule of thumb: use native platform features first, well-maintained apps second, and custom code when an app would add significant bloat, cost or risk, or when the feature is core to your competitive advantage. For existing stores, an app audit often removes thousands of dollars in annual fees and noticeably improves speed.
Replatforming
Moving from Magento, BigCommerce, WooCommerce or a custom build to a new platform is a business-critical project. Our process:
1
Discovery: requirements, data, integrations, SEO and what to retire
2
Architecture and plan: platform configuration, app choices, integration design
3
4
Integration rebuild and testing against real business scenarios
5
SEO protection: URL mapping and 301 redirects, preserving your category and product page SEO
6
Cutover and hypercare: a scheduled launch and close monitoring afterward

Performance, security and QA
Speed problems on ecommerce stores usually come from a few sources: oversized images, render-blocking apps and tracking scripts, heavy JavaScript in themes, and slow third-party widgets such as reviews, chat and personalization tools. We profile real-user performance data, fix the biggest contributors on the templates that carry revenue, and set performance budgets so the store stays fast as new features are added.
- Core Web Vitals optimization and app and script audits
- Security patching, secure coding and PCI-conscious payment flows
- Automated and manual QA across devices and browsers
- Accessibility testing against WCAG 2.2 AA
Support and SLAs
Support retainers cover bug fixes, platform and app updates, security patches, small enhancements and monitoring, with agreed response times by severity. [PLACEHOLDER: SLA tiers, response and resolution times, support hours (ET/CT/PT coverage).]
Why not offshore?
Offshore development can be cheaper per hour, and sometimes it’s the right call. The hidden costs tend to appear where ecommerce is least forgiving: integrations, migrations, peak-season incidents and long-term maintenance. Those are the moments that need overlapping working hours, clear communication and accountability. We document everything, so you’re never locked in, whoever maintains it later.
