Ecommerce web design that converts (and stays accessible)
Performance Max is happy to spend your budget. Whether it’s spending it on new customers, or on people who were already typing your brand name, is another question.
We’re an ecommerce PPC agency that manages Google Shopping, Performance Max, search and Microsoft Advertising for US online stores. We fix the product feed first, structure campaigns around margin and product performance, and keep the automation on a short leash. You own the account, and you’ll see every change we make.
Design built around conversion
We design the moments that make or break revenue:
Discovery: navigation, search and filters that match how your customers actually shop.
Evaluation: product pages that answer fit, quality, shipping and returns questions before they become objections.
Trust: reviews, UGC, guarantees and clear policies, presented without clutter.
Checkout: fewer fields, express payments and no surprise costs.
After launch, our CRO team keeps improving the design through testing, so it gets better with time instead of aging.
Signs it's time for a redesign
- Mobile conversion rate trails desktop by a wide margin
- Your team avoids changes because the theme is fragile
- Core Web Vitals are failing on product and collection pages
- The store no longer matches your brand or price point
- Every campaign landing page needs a developer
- You're replatforming anyway
- If only one or two apply, targeted conversion testing may beat a full redesign. We'll tell you which.

Our design process
Step 1 of 3
Discovery
Stakeholder workshops, analytics and heatmap review, customer research and a competitive teardown. We agree the KPIs the new design must move.
Step 2 of 4
UX and wireframes
User flows and wireframes for the templates that drive revenue: home, collection, product, cart, checkout and account. We test key flows with real users before visual design begins.
Step 3 of 4
Visual design
Step 4 of 4
Build and launch
Our custom development and integrations team builds the design and connects your ERP, OMS, tax and shipping systems. QA covers devices, browsers, speed and accessibility before a planned launch.
Our ecommerce design principles
Clarity beats cleverness. Shoppers should understand what you sell, why it’s different and what it costs within seconds.
Products are the hero. Large, high-quality imagery and video, real-life context and honest detail sell more than decorative design.
Answer objections where they arise. Fit, quality, delivery and returns questions get answered on the product page, not hidden in an FAQ.
Speed is a feature. Every design decision is weighed against its performance cost.
Design for your team, too. A component library lets marketers launch pages and campaigns without waiting for developmen
Accessibility and ADA compliance
Accessibility matters ethically and commercially. Inaccessible stores turn away customers, and US ecommerce sites are frequently the target of ADA-related demand letters and lawsuits. We design and build toward WCAG 2.2 Level AA: color contrast, keyboard navigation, focus states, screen-reader-friendly components, alt text, accessible forms and error messages. We test with automated tools and manual checks before launch.
Design and development can reduce risk significantly, but no agency can guarantee legal compliance. For legal questions, consult counsel.
Designed for mobile first
Most ecommerce sessions in the US happen on phones, so we design mobile first:
- Thumb-reachable navigation and filter drawers
- Fast, swipeable, zoomable product imagery and short video
- Price, delivery estimate, stock and add-to-cart visible without scrolling
- Sticky add-to-cart on long product pages
- Autofill-friendly forms and one-tap express payments
Content and photography planning
Designs fail when the content that fills them isn’t ready. We plan product information, photography, video and category copy alongside design: what each template needs, who creates it, and how it’ll be maintained. That way launch doesn’t arrive with placeholder text.
What US shoppers expect at checkout
Express checkout: Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal
Buy now, pay later where it suits your AOV: Affirm, Afterpay, Klarna
Clear shipping thresholds and delivery dates on product pages, not just in the cart
Accurate sales tax calculated at checkout (through your platform or tools such as Avalara)
Easy returns, explained before purchase
Choosing a platform
Shopify fits most DTC brands: fast to launch, low maintenance, a huge app ecosystem, and checkout tools such as Shop Pay. Thinking about moving to Shopify? We handle design, build and migration.
Magento / Adobe Commerce fits complex catalogs, multi-store operations and demanding B2B requirements.
Redesigning without losing rankings
Redesigns and replatforms are the most common cause of sudden organic traffic loss. We protect your organic search equity with URL mapping, 301 redirects, preserved metadata and structured data, staging crawls and post-launch monitoring.
Timelines and cost
Project timelines depend on the number of unique templates, the integrations involved and the scale of data migration. Theme-based Shopify projects move fastest; custom and headless builds take longer. For typical US market ranges, see how pricing works.
