Ecommerce Email Marketing

Ecommerce email and SMS marketing that grows lifetime value

If your customers buy once and disappear, you’re paying full acquisition cost for every order. Retention is where unit economics get fixed, and email and SMS are where retention happens.

We’re an ecommerce email marketing agency that builds complete retention programs for US brands, mostly in Klaviyo: automated flows, campaigns, SMS and segmentation designed to lift repeat purchase rate and customer lifetime value. Deliverability and compliance are built in, not bolted on.

Illustrative example with sample data, not client results.

Retention: your most profitable channel

You don’t pay per click to reach your own list. Every second, third and fourth order from an existing customer improves the CAC math on the first one. That’s why retention is the backbone of direct-to-consumer growth, and why it belongs inside your multi-channel ecommerce marketing plan, not off to the side.

The flows we build

Automated flows run 24/7 and typically generate a large share of email revenue with no weekly effort:

Welcome

From sign-up to the first order

Browse and cart

Shoppers who looked or left items behind

Post-purchase

Order updates, how-to content, review request

Replenish and cross-sell

Timed to how fast customers use the product

Win-back

Customers who’ve gone quiet

The customer lifecycle, flow by flow. Flows run every day without a send button; campaigns sit on top of them.

Welcome series: brand story, best sellers, social proof and a reason to buy now

Abandoned cart, checkout and browse: timed, personalized, honest about stock and shipping

Post-purchase: order confidence, how-to content, review and UGC requests, cross-sells

Replenishment and subscriptions: reminders timed to real usage cycles

Back-in-stock and price-drop alerts

Win-back and sunset: recover lapsed customers and clean unengaged contacts

Signs your retention program is underperforming

Campaigns and BFCM planning

We build a campaign calendar around launches, content and the US retail calendar, from Valentine’s Day and Memorial Day to Prime Day, back-to-school and BFCM. For peak season we grow your list in Q3, warm up engagement before the rush, segment offers so your best customers aren’t trained to wait for discounts, and plan send volume to protect deliverability.

SMS marketing

SMS drives fast, high-intent action: launches, drops, restocks and time-sensitive offers. We run SMS in Klaviyo, Postscript or Attentive, coordinated with email so subscribers aren’t double-messaged. And we treat consent seriously (see compliance below).

Building your list the right way

Retention starts with who joins your list. We design sign-up experiences (pop-ups, embedded forms, quizzes, and SMS keyword or two-tap mobile opt-ins) that capture consent properly, set expectations about what subscribers will receive, and segment people from the first interaction. A smaller list of engaged, properly consented subscribers outperforms a large list of people who never asked to hear from you.

Retention beyond email: loyalty, referrals and post-purchase

Email and SMS work best alongside the rest of the post-purchase experience: order and shipping notifications, how-to content that reduces returns, review and UGC requests, loyalty programs that reward repeat behavior, and referral offers that turn happy customers into acquisition. We connect these to your flows, so customers experience one coherent relationship instead of disconnected messages.

Segmentation and personalization

Engagement, purchase history, product affinity, predicted next order date and predicted lifetime value let us send fewer, more relevant messages. VIPs get early access, new customers get onboarding, and discount-sensitive segments get offers only when they’re needed.

Deliverability

Since 2024, Gmail and Yahoo have required bulk senders to authenticate their domains (SPF, DKIM and DMARC), offer one-click unsubscribe and keep spam complaint rates low. We set up authentication, warm new domains carefully, monitor inbox placement and complaint rates, and suppress unengaged contacts before they damage your reputation.

Compliance: CAN-SPAM and TCPA

Email (CAN-SPAM): accurate sender information, honest subject lines, a physical mailing address and a working unsubscribe honored promptly.

SMS (TCPA and carrier rules): prior express written consent for marketing texts, clear disclosures at sign-up, STOP/HELP handling, and attention to quiet hours and state-specific rules where they apply.

Privacy: sign-up forms and data use aligned with your privacy policy and applicable state privacy laws.

We configure your programs to follow these rules. For legal advice on your specific situation, consult counsel.

Email and SMS FAQs

Welcome, abandoned cart and checkout, browse abandonment, post-purchase and win-back at minimum. Replenishment, back-in-stock and VIP flows add more for many brands.
For many DTC brands, yes, especially for launches, restocks and peak promotions, provided consent is handled properly and frequency is controlled.
Explicit opt-in with clear disclosures, double opt-in where appropriate, consent records stored in the platform, and STOP/HELP handling. We recommend legal review of your sign-up language.
Yes. We migrate lists, consent records, segments, flows and templates, warm up the new sending domain and run both platforms briefly in parallel where needed, so revenue isn’t interrupted.
It depends on your list, product cadence and engagement, not a universal rule. We segment by engagement so your most active subscribers hear from you more often and less engaged ones aren’t fatigued.
Through your email platform’s attribution windows, checked against store data. We focus on repeat purchase rate and cohort LTV for the true picture.
