Magento and Adobe Commerce development, support and upgrades
Magento can do almost anything, which is why so many complex merchants run on it, and why so many end up with an expensive, fragile store nobody wants to touch. Deferred upgrades, extension sprawl and a departed lead developer will do that.
We’re a Magento ecommerce agency for US merchants. We keep Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce stores secure, fast and current, build the features growth requires, and give you an impartial answer when you ask whether Magento is still the right platform.
Keep Magento fast, secure and current
- their previous agency or developer is gone and the codebase is a mystery
- they're several versions behind on Magento and PHP, with security patches piling up
- the storefront is slow, especially on mobile, and Core Web Vitals are failing
- total cost of ownership keeps rising and leadership is asking about Shopify
- Every engagement starts with a technical audit: code quality, extensions, infrastructure, performance and security posture.
What our Magento audit covers
Versions and patches: Magento, PHP, MySQL/MariaDB and OpenSearch against supported releases
Extensions: installed, used, conflicting, abandoned by their vendors, or due for renewal
Custom code: quality, core overrides and risky shortcuts
Performance: hosting, Varnish and Redis caching, front-end weight and Core Web Vitals
Security: admin access, known vulnerabilities, file permissions and payment flows
Integrations: ERP, tax, shipping and marketplace syncs, and where they fail
SEO: layered navigation, canonicals, store views and indexation
You get a risk-ranked report you can act on, with us or without us.
Magento Open Source vs Adobe Commerce
Magento Open Source is free to license; you pay for hosting, development and extensions. It suits many mid-market merchants with capable development support.
Adobe Commerce adds a license fee and enterprise features: native B2B, advanced merchandising and promotions, content staging, and the option of Adobe Commerce Cloud hosting. It suits larger, more complex and B2B-heavy businesses. We’ll help you judge whether the extra features justify the cost.
Development
Our development team handles:
- custom modules and extension configuration
- ERP, PIM, OMS, tax (Avalara) and shipping integrations
- multi-store, multi-brand and multi-currency setups
- checkout, pricing and promotion rules
- technical-debt cleanup and code refactoring
Storefront redesigns are handled with our website design team.
Support, upgrades and security
- Security patches applied promptly and tested on staging
- Security patches applied promptly and tested on staging
- PHP, OpenSearch and infrastructure kept on supported versions
- Adobe Commerce Cloud deployment and environment management
- Monitoring and fixes with agreed SLAs
- PLACEHOLDER: support tiers, SLAs, hosting partners.
Taking over a Magento store from another agency
Inheriting a Magento codebase is risky if it’s done blind. Our takeover process: secure access and credentials (and remove anyone who shouldn’t have them), take full backups, set up a proper staging environment if one doesn’t exist, audit code and extensions, document integrations and deployment, then fix the highest-risk issues first. Within the first month you’ll have a clear picture of your store’s health and a prioritized plan, whatever state it’s in.
Hyvä for speed
Magento’s default Luma front end is heavy. Hyvä is a modern front-end theme that removes most of that weight and is often the most cost-effective way to dramatically improve a Magento store’s speed and Core Web Vitals. We assess extension compatibility, plan the work, and implement it without disrupting sales.
Magento B2B
Adobe Commerce includes native B2B: company accounts, shared catalogs, negotiated quotes, requisition lists and purchase-order approvals. We configure and extend these to match your pricing rules and ERP, and build B2B ordering portals buyers actually use.
Common Magento problems we fix
- Slow category and search pages from layered navigation and missing full-page caching
- Checkout errors after extension updates, often two extensions fighting over the same function
- Cron and indexer failures leaving prices, inventory or search out of date
- Admin panels so slow that merchandising stalls
- Integrations that silently stop sending orders to the ERP
- Security patches applied late, or untested
What Magento really costs to run
Fair platform comparisons use total cost of ownership, not license fees alone. For Magento, budget for hosting sized for its resource needs (or Adobe Commerce Cloud), the Adobe Commerce license if applicable, extension renewals, regular security patching and upgrades, and ongoing development. For complex B2B or multi-store businesses that can still be the most cost-effective option. For simpler DTC stores it often isn’t, which is why the replatforming question comes up so often.
Stay or replatform?
Magento usually remains the right choice for complex B2B, heavy customization tied to your operations, multi-store architectures, or teams with strong Magento skills.
Shopify is often the better choice when requirements are mostly standard DTC ecommerce, maintenance and hosting costs are high, and you’d rather invest in growth than upkeep. If that’s you, our Shopify design and development team will plan the migration.
We’ll compare total cost of ownership, risk and timeline for both paths, with no incentive to push a rebuild you don’t need.
Magento SEO
Layered navigation, configurable products and store views can create massive crawl waste. Our ecommerce SEO work brings indexation under control and focuses search engines on revenue-driving categories.
